My mission at Campus Management:

At the forefront of championing the (UCD) User Centered Design methodology through the needs of the company’s constituents, Mickey is leading the definition and execution of a User Experience strategy that will bring the company’s current 12+ legacy products into an innovative, service-based, modern ERP solution.

Mickey is serving in dual roles as both Creative Director and User Experience Director, establishing and managing the company’s first UX and Creative Design teams. Infusing UCD methodology within the currently blended software development life cycle, the result is the creation of an enhanced, cutting-edge user interface design and the development of a signature style product brand, which will provide an innovative user experience for students and faculty alike.

Delving into execution, Mickey is working with Senior Level Solutions Architects and Development Senior Management to introduce a service-based, progressive enhancement UI framework strategy, which allows flexible configuration opportunities for clients, native 508 compliance, and (by blending market-driven opportunities, ethnography/research and user feedback) will pave the way for the company to strategically design and develop innovative, cutting edge functionality and feature-sets.

Neutrogena SkinID (www.skinid.com) – personalized acne treatment products, available exclusively online.

I served as multi-disciplinary lead, managing design and development from concept to execution. I played a key role in brand development and in defining the UX strategy – performing user research (including medical professionals), designing all wireframes and UX deliverables.

The results include the design and development of a patent-pending online skin iD^TM Evaluation tool (a comprehensive series of interactive questions developed with leading Dermatologists used to determine an appropriate regimen), as well as the development of the SkinID.com website. Ads for this product can be seen online and on television, with spokespersons including Hayden Panettiere (Heroes).

Burt’s Bees (www.burtsbees.com) – the Earth Friendly, Natural Personal Care Company.

I played key role in the redesign of the burt’s bees.com website. I was also in the lead role in defining the UX strategy and launch of the GreaterGood micro-site, which also launched in 2007. The Greater Good is Burt’s Bees initiative towards Corporate Social Responsibility, that after many years of pioneering sustainable practices and leading the Natural Personal Care industry, intends to rigorously measure progress and  better assess achievements and challenges.

We needed to create a look and feel that was true to the meaning behind the Greater Good mentality, while infusing freshness into the already distinct Burt’s Bees brand.

This was a fun project, as it afforded me with the opportunity to meet the minds behind the product, as well as get the truth behind what is truly “all natural”.

(FedEx) Federal Express (www.fedex.com) – specializes in cost-effective, small-package shipping, offering dependable business-to-business delivery or convenient residential service.

I served as a Senior Information Architect on this project. As one of a very small group of UX professionals that could actually code, the focus of my involvement was to actually build the front end prototypes for approval by FedEx executives.

Besides the obvious challenges, such as the amount of screens needing to be prototyped and the requirement to roll up my sleeves and code, this project actually presented a unique opportunity to perform in depth analysis and provide solutions for interfaces that had very high green-screen counts. This means that the interfaces were heavily used by individuals who either relied on tabbing or shortcut keys to navigate through the interface. These users pound out a high volume of shipments at an extremely rapid pace, so the introduction of mouse-required actions severely impacted user productivity levels and were therefore excluded as features.

These items are meant to showcase the broad range of deliverables that I am capable of producing for each project. The process and its documents can be molded to each specific case, as needed.

Having an extensive background in print and web design, my documents tend to present themselves very well and are always successful at clarifying things for both internal teams and for the client.
